EMRS 2010 Sem 1 Round 3 Community Event At The Zoo Passionate Advocates for Wildlife Society (PAWS) Objectives: Understanding the nature and status of the wildlife animals with the aim to protect these animals, their habitats and ecosystems from excessive rate of EXTINCTION. Learning value of the event: The fundamental benefits of this event is to ensure that all participants are more aware of their current wildlife situation. We hope that they will learn more about the animals, to respect them, to protect them, and how to take care of them. Comments Evelyn: This event was a great learning experience as it allowed me to have a better understanding of wildlife and now I know what I can do to protect them and save them from extinction. Cheryl: I enjoyed the event as I learnt more about animal conservation through the talk by ACRES and respecting animals. The Amazing Race at the Zoo built teamwork and get up close to the animals. JinHao: This event taught me alot of things especially after listening to the ACRES talks. This makes me to pay more attention to what the animals are doing and also allows me to understand why they are doing this weird things. Love the animals by saving them~ Luqman: The talk by Acres have open up my mind and eyes. Going to the zoo, i have observe many things such as the animal in stress and captivity. Thank You Acres for giving me a wider perspective of animal welfare! Hafiz: It was definitely an eye opening experience. The whole programme was well run as the talk by ACRES followed by the Zoo trip was good. Alex: it really opened my eyes when I saw the cruelty the animals are subjected to. I have a new found respect for organisations that are doing all they can to protect these animals. Mingyi: After the zoo trip, I've build up teamwork with my teammates and get to know more about each other. I'm also aware that there are dolphins slaughtering and forcing dolphins as well as other animals to perform by using equipments that they are afraid of. Hence, I learnt not to support animal show! Georgina: I really enjoyed the whole trip there, although it may seems like we were having fun but actually we gained alot of experience and knowledge during the whole zoo trip. we get to know how the animals feels during the show after the ACRES talk as all of us though that the animals was having fun during the show. Josh: As I'm new to EMRS, I'm not familiar with my new classmates and do not know what it is about. After the zoo trip, I get to know more of my classmates and how EMRS works. I can see how much effort Team 4 and 5 have put in the which makes the trip a very successful one. I look forward to work with them in future. (: Samuel: I enjoy the whole trip in the zoo, I know the people in EMRS better. The zoo trip let me have a different point of view for the animal. I am looking forward for the next trip to zoo, and future work with EMRS's team. Melanie: Being new to EMRS, this zoo trip gives me a chance to interact with the teams, to know them better. Not only we get to know each other better we also get to know more about the wildlife. Team 4 and 5 really put in effort in making the trip a success. :D
